Mega Million Jackpot Reaches $97 Million24 August 2005UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- If you want to find the largest jackpot in the country, look no further than Mega Millions. Keeping true to its name, Mega Millions now has an estimated jackpot of $97 million for the Friday, August 26 drawing. No ticket matched all six numbers in Tuesday's drawing to win the estimated $84 million jackpot, but a total of 599,458 tickets won Mega Millions prizes. That includes 17 tickets that each won $250,000. The winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing were: 06-07-08-13-40 and the Mega Ball number was 12. Those 17 tickets that each won $250,000 did so by matching the first five numbers and only missing the Mega Ball number. Those tickets were purchased in Georgia (5), Illinois (5), Maryland (1), Michigan (1), New Jersey (1), Ohio (1), Virginia (2) and Washington (1). Mega Millions is played in 12 states: California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 PM Eastern Time, 10:00 PM Central Time and 8:00 PM Pacific Time. |
