Meeting to Look at Oregon Casino Debate

VANCOUVER, Oregon – As reported by the Oregonian: "Competing sides in the debate over a possible Cowlitz Indian Tribe casino at the La Center-Interstate 5 junction will square off tonight in a presentation before government officials.

"Two speakers are expected to focus on the method of approval the tribe is pursuing for the proposed casino.

"…David Barnett, a Cowlitz member and a development partner with the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut, and Tom Hunt, a spokesman for Citizens Against Reservation Shopping, a Vancouver-based opposition group, will make separate presentations.

"…The meeting, which is open to the public, will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the county elections office at Franklin Street and Mill Plain Boulevard."
