Measure against raid on casino tax revenues passed

INDIANA – As reported by the Evansville Courier Press: "A resolution opposing any legislative raid on tax revenues paid to host communities by casinos was passed Monday by the Evansville City Council.

"'The City Council recognizes that any reduction in the allocation and distribution of gaming revenues would have a detrimental impact on the city of Evansville and upon its citizens,' the resolution stated. It was sponsored by the entire council.

"Noting 'recent discussions' by members of the Indiana General Assembly about possible changes in how gambling revenues are distributed, the resolution noted the city has pledged Casino Aztar lease payment proceeds to long-term Redevelopment and Parks District bonds…"
