Massachusetts treasurer rebukes governor18 October 2007BOSTON, Massachusetts -- As reported by the Boston Herald: "State Treasurer Tim Cahill, a top Democrat and leading proponent of expanded gaming, rebuked Gov. Deval Patrick yesterday for politically mismanaging his three-casino proposal, calling it a 'secretive' process that alienated legislators and now looks to be dead on arrival. "Cahill said he sees no 'path to success' in the highly skeptical Legislature. "...Cahill said the governor's failure to build more legislative support for his plan has created political ill will in the House of Representatives, where Speaker Sal DiMasi and other top lawmakers have indicated only a half-hearted desire to even take up the proposal. "'I'm a supporter, and I have problems with the legislation,' Cahill told the Herald yesterday. 'I don't see why this had to be such a secretive process over the past four or five months. I don't understand why it had to be kept under wraps.'
