Massachusetts town supports slots

TEWKSBURY, Massachusetts -- As reported by the Wicked Local News: "State Rep. Jim Miceli, D-Wilmington, recently reached out and sought the opinion of his constituents at their annual Town Meetings on hot button issues, including a surprising result for the upcoming slot machine vote.

"With the vote to allow machines at the state's racetracks looming in the House after it passed in the Senate in 2005, Miceli posed this question to his constituents and received strong support from Tewksbury and what he deemed a surprisingly close vote against adding the revenue generating machines. At this year's Town Meeting, May 5-7, 64 percent of the 304 surveyed Tewksbury residents said they were in favor adding the machines, while a close 54 percent voted against adding them. Forty-six percent of the 94 surveyed residents in Wilmington voted in favor..."
