Massachusetts slots hearing scheduled

RAYNHAM, Massachusetts -- As reported by the South of Boston Enterprise: "A hearing has been scheduled within the next two weeks on a bill that would allow slot machines at the state's four race tracks.

"A bill filed by Dean of the House of Representatives David L. Flynn, D-Bridgewater, would allow 2,500 slot machines at each of the Raynham-Taunton Greyhound Park, the Wonderland Greyhound Park in Revere, Suffolk Downs in East Boston and Plainridge Racecourse in Plainville.

"Flynn said the bill stipulates that the towns must also approve the slot machines. It also would require that some of the money from the machines would go to the host town, and another percentage be dedicated to education..."
