Massachusetts Official Expects Support for Casinos

FALL RIVER, Massachusetts: "City Council President William F. Whitty said Monday he expects his colleagues to support his resolution calling for legalized casino gambling and the construction of two casinos in Massachusetts at tonight's council meeting.

"…His resolution specifically urges local legislators to 'sponsor and support a state bill that would bring casino gambling to Massachusetts thereby stopping the money drain from Massachusetts to Connecticut.'

"According to Whitty, the resolution is directed toward legislators because casino gambling falls under the state's jurisdiction…"
