Massachusetts lottery has record year27 February 2008NEW BEDFORD, Massachusetts -- As reported by the South Coast Today: "By overhauling the prize structure for its popular scratch ticket games, the state Lottery has reversed its recent revenue declines and is on the road to its most profitable year ever. "Based on customer feedback, the Lottery decided to cut the size of its scratch-ticket prizes but increase the number of them, state Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill told The Standard-Times editorial board Tuesday. "Players seem to be responding, with fiscal year 2007 lottery sales up about 6 percent over the previous year, when revenue decreased slightly overall, Mr. Cahill said. "While revenue is growing, Mr. Cahill said the Lottery continues to report a shortfall because of overaggressive assumptions made during the budgeting process in the last two years. "...The treasurer also announced that the Lottery will be moving its regional headquarters from Fairhaven to New Bedford in June. "...The Lottery office, which employs upwards of 30 people, will move to 200 Theodore Rice Blvd. in the city's industrial park.
