Massachusetts casino job numbers disputed

MASSACHUSETTS -- As reported by the Boston Herald: "Gov. Deval Patrick, House Speaker Sal DiMasi and Suffok Downs chairman Bill Mulrow got in a three-way fight yesterday over how many construction jobs would be created by building three resort casinos in Massachusetts.

"In a harshly worded statement, DiMasi said Patrick's arguments for casinos are 'clearly losing credibility' amid questions about his jobs projections if new resort casinos are built.

"...Patrick brushed aside such concerns yesterday - and he added that legislative support is building for his casino plan.

"...In his own statement, Mulrow, who is pushing for casino gambling at his East Boston racetrack, questioned DiMasi's assertion that the administration has taken Suffolk Downs' jobs estimates 'at face value.'..."
