Massachusett official: Tribal casino inevitable

MIDDLEBORO, Massachusetts – As reported by the — An Indian-run casino is inevitable and it makes sense to work with the tribe, according to Senate President Therese Murray, D-Plymouth.

"'The Wampanoags are her constituents, and they have informed her they want a big-time economic development,' said Murray's spokesman, Ann Dufresne.

"She said the tribe has ambitious plans and Murray believes it makes better economic sense to work with the tribe so the state can get a cut of the revenues.

"There is a question if the tribe can open a bingo hall with slot machines, and Dufresne said the senator wants to begin negotiations once Gov. Duval Patrick's task force reports back on the gaming issue…"
