Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and MGM Resorts agree to discontinue their licensing agreement at Foxwoods Resort Casino25 October 2013MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation owners of Foxwoods Resort Casino announced today the conclusion of its partnership with MGM Resorts International (MGM). There will be a six-month transition period for Foxwoods to generally cease of MGM Grand branding. Neither party expects a material impact due to the end of the agreement. Foxwoods Resort Casino will continue to offer the same dynamic environment and deliver the same quality experience for guests, employees and partners that has made it one of the premier entertainment destinations in the Northeast. The renaming of the tower is part of an overall campaign to reinvigorate the brand that will include new developments, promotions and improvements to the property. “Foxwoods Resort Casino is in the process of a dynamic transformation in which we’re reinvesting millions of dollars back into the property including the renovation of the Grand Pequot Tower, complete an overhaul of the main concourse area and the addition of The Tanger Outlets at Foxwoods. When we looked at the master plan for the resort and our current opportunities, it was obvious that the iconic brand of Foxwoods needed to be at the forefront of our transformation” said Scott Butera, President & CEO, Foxwoods Resort Casino. Foxwoods Resort Casino is the largest casino complex in North America and attracts millions of visitors each year. In addition to allowing the resort to rename the hotel in the grand tower, this new phase also provides the opportunity for Foxwoods to present its assets as it operates as a cohesive property after exceeding the initial goals of the licensing agreement agreed upon in 2006. Foxwoods Resort Casino offers a vast array of gaming in six casinos; AAA Four-Diamond hotels, restaurants from gourmet to express, world-renowned spas and awarding-winning golf. Foxwoods is a compelling location for top-tier restaurants, entertainers and retail partners and has proven strong brand recognition in the marketplace with the ability to attract and retain exclusive retailers. Last month Foxwoods broke ground on the new Tanger Factory Outlet Centers. Once complete, the Tanger Outlets Center will feature over 300,000 square feet of upscale branded and designer outlet retailers.
