Maryville Leaders to Debate Casino Deal16 August 2005MARYSVILLE, California – As reported by the Marysville-Yuba City Appeal-Democrat: "Marysville city leaders tonight will consider whether to support a local tribe's proposed Yuba County hotel-casino in exchange for nearly $5 million. "If approved, the agreement would be the second major deal Enterprise Rancheria has struck with local government officials as it lobbies hard for public backing of its gaming project. "The tribe, based in Oroville, wants to build a $90 million hotel-casino on 40 acres of open land on Forty Mile Road. "The draft agreement calls for the tribe to pay Marysville $250,000 a year, plus interest, for 15 years. The city would have sole discretion over how the money is used; it likely would go to public safety and education services. "In return, the city "shall demonstrate its support by way of letters of support and such other appropriate actions as the Tribe may request from time to time," the agreement states…" |
