Mandalay Resort Group to Launch Customer Loyalty Program1 December 2000LAS VEGAS, Nevada—Dec. 1, 2000 – As reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal: “Mandalay Resort Group plans to unveil a gambler's frequent rewards card in 2001, allowing loyal customers to earn points and comps at a number of the company's resorts. ”The move is part of a trend among major casino operators to help establish and strengthen their loyal customer base as the industry continues to consolidate, gaming analysts say. ”…[Mandalay Resort Group President and Chief Financial Officer Glenn] Schaeffer said. `It'll be ready in spring, and more information will be available when it's ready.’ ”Mandalay Resort Group owns Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur and Circus Circus in Las Vegas, and has other properties in Jean, Henderson, Reno, Laughlin and Detroit. ”…Financial analysts say the programs make sense as casino operators bid to strengthen repeat business and build brand loyalty. ”`Studies show that customers spend 40 or 50 percent of their budget at the property they are staying at,’ said Smedes Rose, a gaming and lodging analyst for Robertson Stephens, a New York investment bank. `If they are going to play at another casino, they are more likely to play at one in which they can use their card.’” |
