Man Sentenced for Helping Family Gambling Operation21 November 2003PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania – As reported by the Associated Press: "The last member of a family-run gambling business - led by a man long associated with illegal gambling in Pennsylvania, in part from prison - will join his brother behind bars. "Eugene Williams, 52, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced Thursday to 15 months in prison for helping his brother Adolph Williams run the ring, which netted as much as $2.5 million a year and took bets on the Pennsylvania lottery. "…The Williamses' sisters, Joanne Williams, 58, and Antoinette DePofi, 62, also pleaded guilty and were sentenced to eight months and four months in prison, respectively. Another sister, Phyllis Caliguiri, 71, is on probation." |
