Man Pleads Guilty to Casino Thefts3 June 2004MAYS LANDING, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "An Atlantic City man pleaded guilty Wednesday in the second of two thefts from the same casino. "In October, Laquan Allen was sentenced to 10 years in prison for one theft from Resorts Atlantic City. On Wednesday, he pleaded guilty to a separate theft there. "…He went to trial last year on charges from an indictment that alleged that on Sept. 24, 2001, he presented a robbery note to a cage cashier at Resorts. "When the cashier refused his demand for money, Allen put his hand in his pocket and simulated possession of a handgun. He was acquitted of robbery but found guilty of theft and received the 10-year sentence. "…For the two thefts from the casino, Allen must serve nearly 12 years before parole eligibility, Ruberton said. Allen also pleaded guilty to a narcotics charge Wednesday. He received eight years in prison to run concurrently to the theft charge. "…Allen has three prior convictions on drug and firearms offenses in New York and New Jersey…" |
