Man Jumps from Casino Construction Site

26 November 2003

NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario – As reported by the Niagara Falls Review: "A man jumped through a second floor window and fell nearly 30 feet to the ground at the new casino construction site Tuesday afternoon.

"The 27-year-old construction worker was sent to Hamilton hospital with head injuries and a slashed throat.

"…[Capt. Bill Rapp of the Niagara Falls fire department] said it appeared as through the man's throat had somehow been slashed on his way down the 25- to 30-foot drop, and he had lost a substantial amount of blood as a result.

"…The Niagara Regional Police and Ontario Ministry of Labour were both on the scene of the future Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, investigating the incident.

"The police determined the man intentionally jumped through the window.

"…The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Association, speaking on behalf of the casino, would only say it is co-operating fully with the police investigation…"
