Man Ends Hunger Strike Against VLTs

FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – As reported by the Canadian Press: "A Saint John, N.B., man addicted to video lottery terminals, ended his hunger strike yesterday but not his fight against the machines.

"Tim Smith said he would eat something, ending a nine-day vigil at the New Brunswick Legislature, but he will continue efforts to have access to the machines limited.

"Smith said he wants the Tory government to reduce the number of VLTs and the time they operate, in an effort to reduce gambling addiction…"
