Malaysian State Government Keeps Gambling Ban

KUALA TERENGGANU, Malaysian – As reported by the Malaysia Star: "The new state government will not lift the ban on gambling outlets imposed by the previous PAS administration, Mentri Besar Datuk Idris Jusoh said.

"'If such licences have not been issued before, then there will also be none now,' he told newsmen yesterday after chairing the state exco meeting at Wisma Darul Iman.

"…PAS revoked the licences of gambling premises after it wrested the state from Barisan Nasional in the 1999 general election..."
