Malaysian Official Calls for Ban to Gambling

MALAYSIA – As reported by the New Straits Times: "Debates in the late evening were livened up for a moment when Lim Hock Seng (DAP-Bagan) urged the Government to ban all forms of gambling, especially nombor ekor.

"Proceedings were extended until 8pm to allow the debate on the royal address to be concluded, and MPs had braced for a long day.

"But wandering minds snapped back to attention when Lim, in urging for Da Ma Cai, Magnum and Sports Toto to be banned, said gambling had caused many to 'kill themselves, jump in the lake, become prostitutes and be chased by ah longs.'…"
