Malaysian Former Princess Blew Millions in Gambling

MALAYSIA -- As reported by Asiaone: "A former Malaysian princess is alleged to have racked up millions in gambling debts at the Ritz casino in London.

"In September 2003, Datin Arina Binti Abdullah apparently blew nearly £2 million ($6.14m) in the casino.

"On her first visit, she allegedly wrote three cheques totaling £1 million ($3m). She lost every penny.

"Two weeks later, she asked to cash another £1 million and wrote another three cheques, and lost £976,000, according to a writ lodged at the British High Court.

"The casino alleges that the ex-princess, who was known as Chuah Kim Keok before her marriage, has not paid up.

"It also alleges that on her second visit, although she cashed £1 million in cheques, she left the table with £24,000 in leftover cash.

"...Unable to contact her, the casino went after her bank, the writ shows.

"It alleges that RHB Bank Berhad, one of Malaysia's largest banks, gave a reference enabling her to open an account, reported London's The Times.

"RHB Bank Berhad has denied having provided any guarantee to allow credit..."
