Malaysian Companies Seeking Legalized Football Betting

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – As reported by the (Asian) Straits Times: "Will football betting be legalised in Malaysia?

"Several public-listed companies are apparently seeking government approval to offer football betting for domestic and international matches.

"…It is learnt that the companies have told the authorities that there is no need to set up new betting outlets.

"All they ask is for the operating hours of four-digit betting outlets to be extended beyond 7pm.

"…By legalising football betting, the government can shut down the illegal bookmaking syndicates, say those seeking the green light from the authorities…"
