Maine governor vows to veto gaming bill20 June 2007AUGUSTA, Maine -- As reported by the Statehouse Reporter: "Legislation that would allow the Penobscot Nation to operate 400 slot machines on Indian Island has won approval in both the House and Senate, but Gov. John Baldacci has promised to veto the bill. "The vote was 20 to 15 in the Senate, which is not the needed two-thirds to override the governor's veto. "...The governor's office confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Baldacci plans to veto the bill." |
