Magna Angry with Track's Delay

MICHIGAN –As reported by the Detroit News: "North America's top horse racing magnate delivered a terse message to Gov. Jennifer Granholm Wednesday: Stop "jerking around" with Magna Entertainment Corp.'s bid to build a $350 million horse track and entertainment complex in Romulus.

"Magna Chairman Frank Stronach said the Ontario-based company has been waiting more than 18 months for the state to approve its application to operate a thoroughbred and harness track at Interstate 94 and Vining Road in Romulus.

"…Stronach told The Detroit News in an interview Wednesday that it only took "a matter of weeks" for the state's Office of the Racing Commissioner to approve a license transfer in 2000 for Magna's Great Lakes Downs in Muskegon, one of 15 horse tracks in North America that Magna operates…"
