Macau to Tighten Slot Controls9 June 2004MACAU – As reported by the Ponto Final: "The Macau government plans to tighten controls on the booming slot-machine business, according to a senior gaming official. "Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau director Manuel Joaquim das Neves said that the bureau was working on specific legislation to strengthen supervision over casino operators' slot machine business in light of changes in the structure of the gaming industry, according to a June 8 Macau Daily report. "As an example of the changes, the recently opened Macau Sands, with more than 400 slot machines in its main lobby, has spurred the Society de Jogos de Macau (SJM), owner of all the other casinos in Macau at present, to increase the number of its slot machine outlets…" |
