Macau lawmaker pushes for stronger gaming regulations

MACAO -- As reported by the Macau Daily Times: "Macau's current gaming laws should be amended in a bid to strengthen the gambling regulations of relatives of casino employees, said lawmaker Angela Leong On Kei, on Tuesday.

"Leong made the remark when asked during the Legislative Assembly's Spring Lunch, to address a recent jackpot row in the Venetian Macao casino resort, in which a local jackpot winner was disqualified by the casino from claiming her prize money of over 1 million HK dollars, for 'being a close relative of a casino staff member.'

"The gambler filed a formal complaint on Monday against Venetian to the Co-ordination Bureau (DICJ) of the SAR government, alleging that she has been treated 'unfairly'..."
