Macau Execs Expect Record Year16 March 2004MACAU – As reported by the Ponto Final: "Gaming-industry executive tells Ponto Final the Macau government can expect to collect record 12 billion patacas (US $ 1.5 billion) in casino gross-revenue taxes this year - thanks to rising number of visitor arrivals from the Chinese mainland "The Macau government can expect a record 12 billion patacas (US $ 1.5 billion) in casino gross-revenue taxes this year, nearly double the amount it collected just three years ago, a gaming-industry executive told Ponto Final on Tuesday. "… According to official figures, mainlanders and Hong Kong citizens had a share of 55.3 per cent and 34.3 per cent respectively in the total number of 1.33 million visitor arrivals in January, when Taiwanese had a share of just 6.5 per cent. Whereas the number of mainland visitors rose 57.9 per cent year-on-year, the number of Hong Kong citizens visiting Macau increased 34.3 per cent, and the one of Taiwanese fell 8.5 per cent on the same month last year…" |
