Macau Casino Chief Quits

6 January 2005

Las Vegas Sun

MACAU -- Las Vegas Sands Corp. said the chief operating officer of its Sands Macau casino, Thuy Trinh, resigned effective immediately and was temporarily replaced by the company's top executive in the city, Frank McFadden.

Las Vegas Sands, in an e-mailed statement, didn't give a reason for Trinh's departure. Spokesman Buddy Lam said in a phone interview that Trinh hadn't been fired, declining to elaborate.

"Frank McFadden, chief operating officer of Venetian Macau Ltd., will assume day-to-day management of the Sands Macao pending a future announcement of Mr. Trinh's successor," the statement said.

In addition to the Sands Macau, which opened last year, Las Vegas Sands is building the Venetian Macau, a replica of its Venice-themed hotel and casino in Las Vegas, on a strip of land reclaimed from the harbor south of Macau's city center.
