LV Firm Sued Over California Indian Casino

16 April 2001

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – April 16, 2001 -- A Las Vegas architect is seeking court approval to force an Anchor Gaming Inc. subsidiary to proceed with arbitration to settle a dispute over payment for architectural services for the new Pala Band Casino near San Diego.

Klai-Juba Architects Ltd., which said it agreed in 1999 to provide structural, mechanical and electrical engineering services; and design and construction documents for the Indian casino, sued Anchor Pala Development LLC, alleging it breached a contract when it refused to file a request for mediation to settle a dispute over payments allegedly owed to the architect.

A spokesman for Anchor Gaming of Las Vegas declined comment on the lawsuit.
