Louisiana senate committee reaches video bingo decision6 June 2007LOUISIANA -- As reported by the Louisiana Advocate: "A Senate committee reached a compromise Tuesday on legislation that aims to rein in a trend toward video bingo games that resemble slot machines. "Nonprofit organizations complained that Senate Bill 224 would deprive them of a valuable fundraising tool. "...The committee agreed to amend SB224 to exempt distributors and operators who seek permits and licenses before Aug. 15. "...At issue are Cadillac Jack bingo machines that feature simulated slot reels. The reels act as window dressing with the bingo game determining the payout. Critics argue the machines blur the line between bingo and slot machines..." |
