Louisiana Racing Commissioner Resigns

16 March 2004

LOUISIANA – As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "Ronald Alleman, who was appointed to the Louisiana State Racing Commission in February, has resigned from the position following the revelation of a felony conviction.

"Among nine commissioners appointed by Governor Kathleen Blanco last month, Alleman had been convicted of a food stamp violation and spent two years on probation, according to commission records, before being pardoned in 1991.

"…Commission Chairman Bob Wright said a replacement for Alleman will be selected soon. The new commissioners are slated to hold their first meeting on Friday."
