Louisiana Casinos Targeted by Armed Robbers

BREAUX BRIDGE, Louisiana – As reported by the (Lafayette, Louisiana) Advertiser: "In the past week, three truck stop video poker casinos have been held up at gunpoint, and one attempted robbery was foiled, according to area law enforcement officials.

"St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery of truck stop casinos that occurred within hours of each other, according to a press release from St. Martin Parish Sheriff Ronny Theriot.

"Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, five people armed with handguns robbed the Vegas Style Casino North on U.S. Route 90 outside Broussard.

"…About four hours earlier, a security guard prevented two armed men from entering the Bayou Belle Truck Plaza on the Grandpoint Highway in Breaux Bridge. The two men are described as black and about 6 feet tall with slender builds. They wore dark clothing…"
