Louisiana casino numbers up

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – As reported by the Shreveport Times: "Gamblers lost $145.9 million to Louisiana's riverboat casinos in September, up more than 50 percent from a year ago.

"The increase, however, is due mainly to the fact that six riverboat casinos were closed by hurricanes last September.

"However, the Shreveport market, where no boats were closed due to the storms, gamblers lost 24 percent more this September over September 2005. This September, gamblers lost $61.8 million at Shreveport-Bossier casinos, up $12 million from $49.8 million lost at the boats in September 2005.

"The largest gain was a 50 percent increase at El Dorado Resort, where gamblers lost $11.9 million in September, a $4 million increase from the $8 million dropped at the boat last year…"
