Lottery veteran Tom Shaheen honored with Public Gaming Research Institute Award21 March 2012NEW YORK -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Linq3 congratulates Tom Shaheen, Executive Vice President, upon receipt of the Public Gaming Research Institute’s Major Peter J. O’Connell Lottery Industry Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Shaheen was presented with the award today at the Smart-Tech Conference in New York City. Prior to joining Linq3, he most recently created the lottery program for North Carolina, where he served as the first Executive Director of the state's Education Lottery. At its inception in 2005, North Carolina was recognized as the fastest start-up in US history. Mr. Shaheen has served as President of the Multi-State Lottery Association, an association of 33 state lotteries that oversees Powerball and several other popular games played throughout the US. In 2005, Mr. Shaheen served as President of the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL), an association of 52 lotteries across North America.
