Lottery Fund Helps Tennessee Students29 August 2005TENNESSEE – As reported by the Tennessean: "…Under a new initiative adopted by the General Assembly this spring, Tennessee students who attend public and private schools as well as those schooled at home are eligible for up to $300 a semester to pay for classes that count as dual enrollment in high school and college. "The money — about $3 million a year — comes from the sales of lottery tickets and is an additional financial resource to the HOPE lottery scholarship fund for college-bound youths. "'It makes a difference when you're trying to save for college,' said Cindy Murphy, who paid $820 this semester for her son Michael to take two college-credit classes at Wilson Central High in Lebanon…" |
