Loto-Québec Rewards More than Prevent Gambling20 February 2004QUEBEC – As reported by the Montreal Gazette: "Even though Loto-Québec's casino arm spent far more to reward patrons than to prevent compulsive gambling last year, it still lags behind the competition in customer loyalty programs, a spokesperson says. "Jean-Pierre Roy was responding yesterday to a published report that said in the financial year ending March 31, 2003, Loto-Québec spent at least $46 million on various programs to reward good customers at its casinos, compared with $17 million on gambling addiction programs. "Roy denied there was a problem, saying loyalty rewards, or 'comps,' are 'a universal principle in business.' "…'We have to offer comps to stay competitive,' Roy said…" |
