Lodge in Poconos Might be Site for Casino

PENNSYLVANIA -- As reported by the Thoroughbred Times: "A Scranton businessman with close ties to a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board member has purchased Mount Airy Lodge resort in the Poconos for $25.1-million, fueling speculation he may seek a slots license.

"Last month Penn National Gaming Inc. gained approval from the state's harness racing commission on an agreement to sell the Pocono Downs and its slots license to the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority for approximately $280-million.

"...The Mount Airy Lodge buyer was a listed as a corporation headed by Louis DeNaples, who is a former client of Scranton lawyer William Conaboy, a health care executive appointed to the gambling commission, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports..."
