Local resident hits near-$1 million jackpot at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino

19 February 2016

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Despite gray skies and cooling temperatures, one recent morning was anything but dreary for a Buffalo man who visited Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino and won the largest jackpot in the casino’s history.

The patron, Donald S. of Buffalo, won a jackpot of $964,883.31 on February 9 playing slots at the popular downtown entertainment destination. The lucky pull, which occurred at 8:30 a.m., came while Donald was playing a one-cent video slot from International Game Technology PLC (IGT), a global leader in the design, development, and manufacture of gaming machines and systems products.

"Seeing one of your guests experience a life-changing moment like that is thrilling for everyone on our team," said Elizabeth Cartlidge, general manager, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. "You’re able to watch someone’s dreams come true. We’re beyond excited for Donald."

The jackpot is the latest in what has been bountiful run for patrons at the three Seneca Resorts & Casinos properties. Throughout 2015, guests at Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino and Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino won jackpots totaling
more than $221 million.

"The investments we continually make in our properties are made so our guests can enjoy the best selection of games, the newest technologies and the best resort and entertainment experience anywhere," said Audrey Oswell, chief operating officer, Seneca Gaming Corporation.

Excitement seems to be the standard at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino. In fact, work is currently underway on a dazzling $40 million expansion project at downtown Buffalo’s most popular entertainment destination. Plans call for a two-story expansion of the existing casino, adding approximately 28,500 square feet of space on each of two levels.

The ground floor will add more than 300 additional slot machines and additional table games, including a high limit room and expanded non-smoking area, and a performance stage for live entertainment at Stixx Sports Bar. It will also include additional retail space, and an expansion of the popular Buffalo Savors Grill.

The second floor of the expansion will introduce a new Western Door concept restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as banquet and meeting space.

Work on the expansion is expected to be complete in Spring 2017.
