Live racing coming to Chippewa Downs in August28 July 2020Chippewa Downs Racetrack in Belcourt, North Dakota announced a shortened schedule for live racing this week, amid the coronavirus pandemic. The property owned by the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians will host racing with spectators on the weekends of 8-9 August, 15-16 August, 22-23 August and 29-30 August. A number of new social distancing and safety measures will be in place, including: Face mask required at all times. No one under 16 admitted. Face masks and hand sanitizer available. Temperature screening, signs posted at entrances outlining rules. Additional security. Social distancing seating as marked and attendance limit. Physical barriers in place in betting area. Big grandstand has 8 rows 100 feet long. We would use every other row allow 17 persons per row with the six feet spacing. This allows for 68 spectators. (Basically use 4 out of 8 rows). Small open grandstand has 10 rows 72 feet long. Six feet spacing amounts to 12 persons per row using five rows. This allows for 60 spectators. Two small bleachers have two rows 16 feet long. Would allow only one row to be used with the six feet spacing. This allows for six spectators each bleacher for a total of 12 spectators. One overflow bleacher (currently at rodeo grounds) has 5 rows 24 feet long. Six feet spacing allows for 4 people per row and use three rows. This allows for 12 spectators. Total spectator seating will be at 152, any spectators above 152 will be standing room only. We have plans to expand spectator area to allow for additional social distancing. |
