Live horse races cancelled at Northville Downs due to unsafe track conditions

26 January 2024

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Michigan Gaming Control Board has cancelled live horse races scheduled at Northville Downs on Friday, 26 January due to overly wet and muddy track conditions caused by recent rainy weather and melting snow.

MGCB stewards have advised that, due to weather conditions, the racetrack is unstable and unsafe. They inspected and verified the Northville Downs’ track conditions and determined that the scheduled races tonight should be cancelled to ensure the safety of the horses, participants, and associated racing personnel.

Under Section 12(4) of the Horse Racing Law of 1995 (HRL), live racing days can be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
