Little Creek Resort to host annual Sa'heh'wa'mish Days Pow-Wow

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Little Creek Casino Resort and the Squaxin Island Tribe are set to host the 10th Annual Sa'heh'wa'mish Days Pow-Wow, a ceremonial gathering of indigenous people of the Coast Salish Tribes, as well as Native Americans from across the U.S. and Canada.

Filled with tradition and culture, this two-day ritual will be held in the resort's event center and is open to the public to attend. Grand entry times are 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, 27 February, and 1 p.m. on Sunday, 28 February, led by Masters of Ceremony Ray Fryberg of Tulalip, Sonny Eaglespeaker of Blood and Casey Mac Wallahee of Yakama.

The Sa'heh'wa'mish Days Pow-Wow will feature a drumming contest at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, with the first-place winner receiving a $10,000 prize and drum donated in honor of Ethan Wallahee, Class of 2018, by the Wallahee family. Among other dances and songs will be a Women's Traditional Special, with Amanda Harris of Comanche/Sac&Fox, Apache, Oklahoma, as the Head Woman Dancer.
