Liner-Style Casino Plan Turned Down

UK -- As reported by the Express and Star: "Controversial plans to convert a Black Country pub into a £1.3 million all-night casino resembling an ocean liner have today been scuppered by planning inspectors.

"Developers Blue Chip Casinos had gambled on lodging an appeal against Sandwell Council's decision last year to turn down the plans for The Barleycorn, in Bearwood, Smethwick.

"But the firm's luck ran out today when the Planning Inspectorate dismissed its application following a two-day public planning inquiry in the town last month.

"Blue Chip had planned to operate the casino from 11am until 6am daily, but had offered to run a valet parking scheme to limit the noise from cars going to and from the venue and set up a special noise barrier around the site..."
