Lincoln Park Purchaser Given Endorsement

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A law firm hired by the governor to review a prospective buyer for Lincoln Park has cleared the would-be purchaser, despite some lawmakers' reservations.

The New York law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher recommended that the state approve BLB Investors' bid for the gambling facility, under certain conditions, among them that legislators approve an 18-year revenue-sharing agreement between BLB and the state.

A Senate committee was expected to vote on a version of that legislation today. The House Finance Committee scheduled its hearing for Thursday.
