Levy deadlock continues

1 November 2010

LONDON, England -- The deadlock over the racing levy continues with Racehorse owners determined to prove that the book makers need the tracks, The Guardian reported.

Trainers may be requested to support a "non-racing day" where all horses would be withdrawn from races on one day, The Guardian said.

Some trainers question the move, others said they would consider supporting it, the report said.

The racing industry and bookmakers remain in deadlock over the amount bookies contribute to prize money and it looks likely the government will now have to intervene and settle the dispute, The Guardian report noted.
