Legionella bacteria found in water at ARIA

15 July 2011

LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- The water supply at ARIA showed high levels of the bacteria Legionella during the June 21 to July 4, 2011 time period, KLAS TV 8 reported.

ARIA has issued letters to 18,000 guests who stayed at the property during that time to educate them about possible symptoms of illness, the report explained.

No guest has yet specifically reported during the stated period, but six people in the previous 2 year period did report ill who stayed at ARIA, KLAS-TV 8 report said.

Many people exposed to the bacteria will not experience symptoms, but the symptoms of Legionnaires disease are similar to pneumonia and people with weak immune systems are particularly at risk from exposure, the report detailed.
