Leading The Way At Grosvenor Casino Southampton24 September 2010On Friday 24th, September Tracey Collins, General Manager at Grosvenor Casino Southampton, was given the prestigious accolade of Leader of the Year at the International Women in Gaming Awards. The awards showcase the achievements of women across the land and iGaming industry. Throughout 25 years with Grosvenor Casinos, Tracey has worked tirelessly and reached a milestone in 2005 when she became General Manager. Whilst raising three children, Tracey developed her leadership skills and her commitment to honesty, openness and directness as a manager which earned her respect and praise from her employees. In 2009, Tracey took her team to the top of their game and won Grosvenor Casino's Casino of the Year. Since then she has gone from strength to strength . Tracey says her management style comes from experiencing bad management and realising how she didn't want to be. "Being a woman in a male dominated industry made me more determined to succeed. A combination of my personality and a female perspective makes me very empathetic with both customers and my team. Plus I absolutely love my job," she added. She continues: "I don't feel I've had to make any personal sacrifices to succeed in the gaming industry – apart from sleep deprivation when my children were young as I would work during the night and spend time with them during the day. " The Rank Group (which owns the Grosvenor Casinos brand) is determined to have other success stories like Tracey, and be a business that encourages and inspires women. Working in the gaming industry is a great career for women as the hours of work can fit perfectly with bringing up a family. Fiona Regan, Head of HR for Grosvenor Casinos said, "We are delighted with Tracey's award. Across all of our businesses, we try to create an environment that enables hard working people to flourish, which Tracey has certainly done. Tracey has also proved that it is possible to balance a successful career whilst raising a family." |
