(PRESS RELEASE) -- LAX Nightclub is bringing it back to the old school all week long starting Thursday, May 26, when Rob Base arrives to rock the microphone for the venue's Throwback Thursday series.

The "It Takes Two" artist ushers in several Memorial Day week festivities, which include a special "I Love the '90s Tour" after party with Salt-N-Pepa on Saturday, May 28, followed by the next Throwback Thursday performance by Twista on Thursday, June 2.

Rob Base and partner DJ E-Z Rock paved the way for the fusion of hip-hop and dance anthems, a genre known as hip-house, which would go on to define the '90s club scene. The duo released their debut single "Make it Hot" in 1987, but it was their multi-platinum 1988 hip-hop classic "It Takes Two" that made them household names. In 1988, they released the chart topping single "Get on the Dance Floor."

One of the most successful female rap groups of all time, Salt-N-Pepa came on the scene in 1986 and went on to release unforgettable singles including "Push It," "Let's Talk About Sex," "None of Your Business," "Shoop," and "Whatta Man," on which they collaborated with En Vogue. The trio, consisting of Cheryl James ("Salt"), Sandra Denton ("Pepa"), and Deidra Roper ("DJ Spinderella") won the 1995 GRAMMY award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Chicago rapper Twista earned his name and fame for his rapid lyrical prowess, which he debuted on his 1992 album "Runnin' Off at da Mouth," after being named the world's fastest emcee by the Guinness Book of World Records. Twista went on to release hit singles, "Po Pimp" and "Slow Jamz," which was also featured on Kanye West's debut album "The College Dropout." In 2014, he released his latest album, "Dark Horse," with featured guests Tech N9ne, Wiz Khalifa, and R. Kelly, among others.

Every Thursday at LAX Nightclub, DJs spin favorite hits from the '80s and '90s, with several memorable Throwback performers hosting select nights throughout the year.

LAX Nightclub will be open Thursday, May 26 to Sunday, May 29, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily, for Memorial Day weekend, before resuming its normal Thursday-Saturday schedule the following week.
