Lawsuit Over Rockaway Beach Casino Plan Proceeds

JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri – As reported by the Associated Press: "A group fighting a proposed casino in southwest Missouri succeeded in getting a new judge to hear its lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed in Cole County circuit court, is now before Judge Richard Callahan instead of Judge Thomas Brown.

"The lawsuit seeks to have the proposed Rockaway Beach casino thrown off statewide ballots in the August election. As of now, voters will be asked whether to amend the state constitution to allow a casino along the White River in Rockaway Beach.

"…Opponents of the constitutional amendment say it would violate existing parts of the state and national constitutions…"
