Laws Set to Cut Pokies Numbers

AUSTRALIA -- As reported by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "Laws to remove 3,000 poker machines from South Australian gaming venues are effective today.

"Premier Mike Rann says as well as reducing the number of machines, an extra $2 million a year will also be paid into the Gamblers Rehabilitation Fund.

"Mr Rann says more than 2,000 poker machines will be cut in a trading scheme to be managed by the liquor and gambling commissioner, with the remainder to follow soon after…"
