Las Vegas woman hits $6.9 million slot jackpot

22 September 2008

LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- A Las Vegas woman, who walked away from her Wheel of Fortune® Special Edition™ penny video slot machine, returned a short time later and won the multi-level progressive jackpot worth $6,978,752.98.

Before walking away, the anonymous winner, a regular at the Orleans since it opened in 1996, asked a man sitting next to her how she would know if she won the jackpot.

"He told me to keep an eye on the middle line and watch for five Wheel of Fortune signs all lined up in a row," said the 52-year-old Korean native. "I had decided to walk away from the machine, but after a while, I opted to come back and play some more. That was the best decision I ever made. This is a dream come true."

The winner said she will use the winnings to pay off her car and house, help her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and donate to her church.
