Las Vegas Sports Handicapper Sued8 December 1999A sports handicapper "with extraordinary skills" has been sued by the Las Vegas sports information service employing him because he has announced he is leaving his job five years before his contract runs out. National Sports Services Inc. says in the suit filed Monday that Wayne Root is an irreplaceable element of its nationwide operation that includes a pay-per-call program featuring Root. The suit says Root signed an agreement in 1994 tying him to National Sports Services for 10 years, but Root has said he will be moving on after the Super Bowl in January. Root lives in Malibu, Calif., but works in Las Vegas picking winners in basketball, football and baseball games. Root has not yet responded to the suit's allegations. |
